Guangzhou International Shipping Judicial Research Association held the inaugural ceremony and the first general meeting at Guangzhou Maritime Court on December 7, 2018. 19 units and more than 100 member representatives attended the meeting, including the Guangzhou Maritime Judges Association, the Guangdong Lawyers Association, the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission, and the Law School of the South China Normal University. The meeting elected Ni Xuewei chief judge of the Guangzhou Maritime Court as the first chairman and Yang Hui, Yang Yunfu and Huang Shan as vice chairmen.
On behalf of the Guangzhou Maritime Court, Ye Liudong president of the court expressed warm congratulations to the establishment of the Association.
Located in the Guangzhou Maritime Court, the Association was
initiated by the Guangzhou Maritime Judges Association to give full play to the
functions of maritime justice, to demonstrate a good environment of rule of law
in Guangzhou Shipping industry, and to enhance international influence by
holding high-level professional international maritime judicial seminars and
special training, etc. The Association also aimed to provide professional
intellectual services and guarantee for constructing Guangzhou International Shipping
Center.
Director Yang Yunfu is the only maritime lawyer out of the three
vice chairmen. We will do our utmost to contribute to the work of the
Association.
